EXPERIENCE COUNTS

Mustang has more experience with the application and operation of eddy current power absorbers than any system integration company in the world.

Mustang’s unique design of the MD-AC/EC-TRANS-HD Series Transmission Dynamometer allows the power absorber to be cradle mounted with a load cell and speed encoder (not the unrelated current) in order to actively measure the output torque and speed of the transmission to instantaneously determine the output power of the transmission. The mounted load cell is an included device.

The control system allows the measurement of the PAU applied torque as well as the induced acceleration torque applied by the mass of the power absorber’s inertia. This is required to accurately measure power during transient testing.
The absorber can be adjusted in the vertical plane of the transmission by positioning it with a simple dual jackscrew device and locking with fasteners.

The air-cooled eddy current power absorber has a fast responding controller driving the PAU coils. A high power controller allows for fast response and quick settling times. The air-cooled PAU only requires air for cooling - NO WATER!
