System Overview
The MD/AC-Trans-HD series Transmission Dynamometer can be sub-divided into 3 primary components.
1.) The Dynamometer Test Bed and Eddy Current
2.) The Prime Mover
3.) Operators Console

The Dynamometer Test BeD
General Design Criteria
The prime mover and dynamometer test bed is constructed as one assembly on a common base frame. The base frame section houses the prime mover and transmission mounting support structure and the eddy current power absorption unit (movable).
The test bed frame consists of a welded 10” structural steel tube frame for high structural integrity and rigidity.
A hands off power indexing system is incorporated to permit the user to rotate the transmission.
Machined steel ways with cam rolls allow for easy adjustments of the eddy current PAU assembly.
Structural steel frame with heavy gauge removable sheet metal sides.
Integrated transmission fluid reservoir with screened grate-type cover capable of supporting 300 lb.
Forced-air cooling fans with filters mounted on the lower sides of the enclosure force air through the cabinet. This technique is superior to top mounted exhaust removal fans because the side-mounted fans create a turbulent airflow through the enclosure decreasing the potential for hot spots.
Theprime mover has a forced-air-cooled motor for continuous duty operationacross variable speed ranges without overheating. This allows for wideroperating speed ranges.
