The Dynamometer / Drive

A 1200/800-horsepower Electric AC Dynamometer with a Rockwell Automation Regenerative Drive has been selected as the dynamometer for the MD-AC-1200-10K, primarily due to its superior response, load control accuracy, load stability, transient features, and full speed range capabilities (0-10,000 RPM). Through regeneration, the majority of the power absorbed by the dynamometer is returned to the user’s power grid – resulting in a substantial reduction in operating costs associated with the test stand.

Rockwell Automation, a Mustang Dynamometer Technology Partner, is experienced in all phases of automotive engine and drive train test stand development. This experience ranges from supplying the drives that interface with a standard, packaged controller to the development of complete, customized systems including drives, operator control interfaces, sequencing functions, report generation, graphics and test cycle generation. As partners, Mustang Dynamometer and Rockwell Automation bring professionalism and a wealth of experience to your application.
