MD-7000 Control Platform - Performance Tests |
Horsepower Curve |

|
This test is used to make a "sweep" type power output graph. This test is very useful for creating torque and power output graphs for engine development work and high performance tuning. During a test run, the system speed will be allowed to gradually move from the specified sweep starting speed to the specified sweep ending speed based on a specified running time. By increasing the running time for a power curve test you increase the resolution of your results. Once the upper speed limit has been reached, the operator puts the vehicle in neutral until the systems speed slows to 5.0 MPH below the upper speed limit, at which point the system will use the power absorber to bring the system to a smooth stop. |
Programmed Torque |

|
This test allows the operator to test a vehicle using a torque versus time profile. The test “steps” a vehicle’s torque up or down based on torque profiles which are created and stored using the “Programmed Torque Profile Editor”. The Programmed Torque Test is useful, for example, to simulate on-track conditions for a racing engine running at maximum output.
When operating a vehicle at full power output, this test allows you to perform endurance testing with a load on the vehicle varying between the maximum torque output and the torque that the vehicle can deliver at near-maximum operating RPM. |

Mustang’s MD-7000 software provides you with a number of standard test for high performance testing and tuning. Using tests such as programmed torque and programmed speed in conjunction with analog inputs gives you the ability to tune a vehicles engine for optimum performance.
